With every wedding there are always last-minute hiccups, no matter how organised and prepared you think you are. For this photo shoot, our drama was the photographer, who injured himself just before the event. After two months of careful planning, I didn’t want the day to go to waste. I had two hours to find a new photographer and with nervous last minute ‘wedding shoot’ jitters, I managed to pull it all together. With the help of ‘Ben and Hope Photography’, who before going to France for their own work commitments, stepped in to make the whole day an absolute success. After speaking to Ben on the phone, he and I knew we would work well together, and his great ideas and suggestions proved invaluable.

The theme of this photo shoot was to tell a beautiful story; a formal wedding with a romantic, soft and intimate feel. Candid images reflected through the art of texture, colour and design. The Bride and Groom were the central focus of the shoot, keeping things simple and natural, as a wedding is a celebration of their special day. We wanted to showcase the fun and playfulness of incorporating colour, textures and geometrics, while keeping the shoot romantic and elegant. Weddings today are not so much about the volume of people that attend but more about the high-quality atmosphere and environment. Clever use of music and highly scented candles for example, can evoke positive emotional responses of that day, for everyone at the wedding.

The photos taken showcased elements of each part of the wedding day experience. The colour scheme selected for this photo shoot was inspired from the bridesmaid’s dresses hung in the background in the photos of the bedroom scene, which included golds, whites, blacks, ivories and shades of soft pink through to burgundy. They proved simply stunning! The Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove Resort was the perfect top-class location. It provided a diverse range of photo opportunities in a beautiful and relaxing environment: old world looks were achieved inside, beach resort photos outside of the couple splashing around in the pool and artistic images created from the reflection pool and of course, ultra-modern looks.

We utilised the elongated walls of the chapel and its unique geometric architecture to create dramatic images. The food at the Intercontinental was beyond belief: fresh, vibrant and exquisite to taste, real ‘food art’. The dresses I chose were colourful and textural, playful yet elegant and light, floral designs. The bride’s hair although up, was still soft and subtle and alluring. The stationary reflected the same theme and I loved the mix match of florals with perspex to create different stationary looks. Inside we made the piano the cake table, showcasing three different styles of wedding cake. A relaxing bubble bath, candles and wine help the bridal couple unwind after a day full of celebrations.
