Once again, this truly impressive Expo excelled our expectations and was really well-received by the audience.  The Queensland Brides and Honeymoon Expo is hosted at Southbank Convention Centre, in Brisbane, twice-yearly by Graphic Publishing, who have consistently organised successful wedding events, since my first dealings with them in 2006.  This Expo ran smoothly and effortlessly, including the catwalk parade of models.

At this Expo we felt the buzz of excitement from future grooms- and brides-to-be and that excitement was definitely contagious.  I personally love that energy, and freedom of being able to discuss my innovative and creative ideas and designs with those researching; it is so rewarding!

At exhibitions, I cherish the opportunities that Tony (my husband) and I have in showcasing our HCD signature style in unique bridal gowns and talking to potential customers.  The Expo allows us to show people who I am and what I stand for – transparency as a creative designer and artist. People discover the ‘Designer’ behind the dress: no two dresses are ever the same.

This year we had four dresses on the catwalk and our stand displayed seven unique bridal gowns highlighting the diversity of our range, with regards to style, design, fabric and accessories. There was hopefully something for everyone to peruse!  It showcased varied techniques and choices available for the bride, which we can incorporate into the gowns, such as feathers, 3D lace applique, diamantes, beading and flowers.

We thrived on the personal interaction and freedom to discuss bespoke designs and ideas with customers and were grateful to be able to listen to their wedding needs and concerns, in an ever-changing world and industry.  The customers in return, could see the high-quality finish of our gowns, feel the weight and drape of the fabrics and experience the passionate personalised service that we offer.

In some cases, that one-on-one interaction altered client’s preconceived ideas about choosing a custom-made wedding dress.  Despite being an established award-winning bridal designer, they experienced first-hand how approachable I really am. I think most were also pleasantly surprised too, at how affordable our gowns are and the extra-value found in our expertise and attention to detail given to each individual bride’s shape and preferences.  In my world, each bride is a unique ‘piece of art’ by the time she walks down the aisle on her wedding day.  Absolute perfection!
