Enjoy The Romantic Ride, While We Whisk You Away, With Our Magical Shoot At Lisson Grove Boutique Resort And Mt Tamborine, Queensland, Australia.

Location

Tamborine Mountain is tucked just behind the Gold Coast, living up to its name, ‘The Green Behind the Gold’. It is nestled in the heart of the Scenic Rim and is known for its plethora of desirable wedding venues. It boasts stunning scenery, from the lush tropical rainforests with picturesque waterfalls, to the majestic country lanes and cottages. Tamborine Mountain is greatly influenced by the individual seasons, each delivering its own character and charm. This winter shoot offered a diverse scenery of organic and natural earthy tones; from the evergreen trees and hedges, to the deciduous trees with naked branches lying dormant waiting for spring to arrive.  The cottage’s Tudor-style influence created a romantic and stunning backdrop worthy of any fairy-tale wedding.

Photography

The air was crisp, and the sunlight played peek-a-boo behind the clouds. Claire-Elise, our photographer from Claire-Elise Photography, was able to capture the essence of what we hoped to achieve.  Her style of photography was light, feminine, romantic, and even whimsical at times.  Her use of light gave such an angelic feel, the only thing missing was the sound of angels.

Claire-Elise was so easy to work with and had a calming presence about her.  Being a local, she knew of all the secret little locations Tamborine Mountain had to offer and how to use the somewhat challenging light that came with being up in amongst the clouds.

Venue

The romantic old English charm of Lisson Grove Boutique Resort transported you back into another era.  The current world was left behind the moment our feet stepped onto the pebbled walkway.  It meandered through meticulously kept gardens and was met by a collection of quaint olden-day bungalows and cottages with white picket fences. Lisson Grove had a wonderful heritage feel, tucked away amongst the trees at the top of lush Tamborine Mountain.

Dress

‘Isla’ was an evolution.  She evolved through several stages of design, until I was happy with the final masterpiece.  Isla was one of the dresses born during the COVID-19 isolation.  It was completely designed and created using only remanent fabrics and an older style dress I was originally thinking of selling.  I explored a soft colour palette, with only the smallest hint of soft pink.  Texture was then created by the addition of Chantilly lace and 3D flowers, in an array of sizes and shapes, and silk-white through to ivory shades.

Suiting

This immaculately tailored suit is embellished with subtle velvet floral detailing, paired with a striking black trouser and silk bow tie.  It was the perfect accompaniment to the stunning Isla gown. The fabric used gave this piece such depth and interest that it truly stood apart and held its own in the photos.

Hair And Makeup

The breath taking hair and makeup was natural, soft and dreamy, with the focus on Piper’s beautiful big, blue eyes. Glitter was also used on Piper’s eyelids, to give that little extra pop.

Florals
What a delicious mix of crisp red, blush and dusty pink tones flowed through this bouquet. It was both delicate and robust with a combination of soft spring roses and the featured hearty protea, the perfect centre piece to our collaboration. Our photographer Claire chose to pull in some environmental hints of red and pink to continue these eye-catching colours throughout the shoot, giving it continuity and showcasing the bouquet.

Catering

The mouth-watering catering ‘burst’ in vibrancy, colour, design, and taste.  It was eloquently presented, and contrasted with the natural surroundings, to ‘pop’ in colour.  It tasted so divine, we had to fight off the local wildlife that wanted to sample the food before we could take shots of the models eating it.

Wine

The rosé from Hampton Estate Wines complimented the soft romantic theme, with its subtle shade of apricot/pink.

Models

The models worked well together, on one of the coldest days the Gold Coast has had and as it was up at Mt Tamborine, where the chill factor rises, while the temperature drops. Barrington always kept the atmosphere light and relaxing, which is just who he is. Piper did her best to keep warm, where possible, but you would never have thought she was cold, when looking at the images.
